Commercial Greywater Recycling
Commercial greywater recycling is the process of capturing, treating, and reusing wastewater from showers, hand wash basins and bathtubs for reuse as a non-potable water supply. Our innovative approach to greywater treatment is proven to be safe, reliable and low maintenance for businesses who want to save water. it’s easy to see if this technology can work on your new build project by contacting our team below.
Reduce Impact on Local Infrastructure
Who are our commercial greywater systems ideal for?
Public Health Engineers
Integrate reliable water reuse solutions into low-impact, sustainable building designs.
Local Authorities
Cut water consumption in public buildings such as leisure centres, sports facilities, and community hubs.
Office Developers
Attract eco-conscious tenants. Offices are ideal for greywater recycling due to the large number of hand wash basins and high water demand.
Leisure Operators
Reduce water usage. Swimming pools and hotels have a large number of showers and a high demand for water, making them ideal for greywater recycling.
Reliable, Proven Solutions you can Trust
Our Commercial Greywater Solutions
Interested in including greywater recycling on your new commercial project? We can support your Design Engineers with full product performance specifications. Take a look at our solutions below.
Easy to Install & Scalable
Packaged Greywater System
Our packaged greywater systems safely filter greywater to 0.02 microns – 3,500 times smaller than a human hair!
Our systems offer daily treatment capacities of between 3,600 and 48,000 litres per day and utilises an innovative multi-stage filtration technique, ensuring high water quality.
- A self-cleaning pre-tank filter removes hair, fibres, and soaps.
- A biological treatment tank supports aerobic bacteria to grow and break down organic matter.
- Ultrafiltration membrane stations use hollow fibres to physically remove bacteria and viruses.
- Automatic dosing chemically cleans pipework to prevent blockages. Without this, manual cleaning is necessary.
Maximise Water Savings
Combined Rainwater & Greywater Recycling
Combined systems are commonly used in large, mixed-use developments where a single collection source will not provide enough supply alone.
Our solutions treat greywater and rainwater in separate, purpose-designed filtration streams, ensuring each water type is processed using the most suited methods. Both water types then supply a shared break tank to provide a single non-potable supply.
Maintaining distinct treatment paths reduces operational strain on components, simplifies maintenance routines, and improves overall system lifespan.
Compliance Information
BS EN 16941-2:2021
This British Standard sets out the requirements for design, sizing, treatment, and maintenance of greywater systems.
Our expert team of estimators will ensure your system is sized according to the guidance in the British Standard.
Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999
This regulation ensures that greywater systems are correctly installed and maintained to prevent any cross-contamination with drinking water.
Our greywater systems are supplied with the appropriate airgaps to physically ensure the rainwater and mains water supply are never connected.
We also support our installation community by providing detailed installation manuals to ensure the installation process is as smooth as possible.
Pipework Requirements
Greywater Collection Pipework
Dedicated pipework is needed to transport wastewater from showers, handwash basins and bathtubs to the greywater treatment system. This is required to be completely separate from the blackwater drainage.
Non-potable Distribution Pipework
Dedicated distribution pipework is also required to transport the treated greywater from the treatment system to the points of use. This should be clearly labelled in accordance with WaterRegsUK guidelines.
FAQs
Got a Question?
What can recycled greywater be used for?
Greywater is suitable for any non-potable (non-drinking) uses, such as:
- Toilet flushing
- Irrigation
- Process or cooling water
- Vehicle washing
What can greywater not be used for?
Greywater must never be used for:
- Drinking
- Cooking
- Bathing or personal washing
How much does a greywater recycling system cost?
The cost of a commercial greywater recycling system depends on several factors, including:
- Building occupancy
- Number of greywater sources (e.g. showers, basins)
- Number of intended uses (e.g. toilet flushing, irrigation)
Because of these variables, it’s difficult to provide a one-size-fits-all price. However, most systems fall within a bespoke cost range.
The good news?
Our team can quickly assess your project specs and give you a tailored quote – often within 24 hours. Just send us your basic building details using the form below.
How is a greywater recycling system sized for my project?
Our team will size your greywater recycling system based on the specific needs of your building. We handle all the calculations and can also help develop tailored performance specifications for your project.
To size the system accurately, we’ll need some key information:
- Building occupancy – how many people use the space daily
- Greywater sources – number of handwash basins, showers, and bathtubs
- Usage points – number of toilets, irrigation systems, or vehicle wash facilities using recycled water
We use this data to calculate the supply vs. demand ratio. If supply exceeds demand, we size the system based on demand – to avoid oversizing and ensure water doesn’t sit unused or become stagnant.
End result: A right-sized, efficient system that delivers consistent water savings and hygienic operation.
Is greywater recycling safe for my business?
Yes! Greywater recycling is widely recognised as safe for non-potable use in the UK. In fact, it’s endorsed by both industry leaders and government authorities.
Here’s why you can trust it…
- Water UK 2030 Net Zero Roadmap
Water UK, the trade association for UK water and wastewater providers names greywater reuse as essential for managing water demand and achieving net-zero goals. - UK Government’s Plan for Water (2023)
This national strategy highlights water reuse, including greywater recycling, as a key solution to ensuring long-term water security. - Certified Safety
Stormsaver’s greywater recycling systems are NSF-certified, meeting rigorous health and safety standards for non-potable applications (toilet flushing, irrigation, and cooling).
Summary
Greywater recycling is not just safe – it’s recommended by the UK’s top water authorities and backed by proven certifications.
