Events Stadium, Leeds
Project Overview
This £60 million project saw the development of a new iconic entertainment arena for Leeds City Centre. The developer had ambitious plans to incorporate innovative sustainability technologies to reduce impact and achieve BREEAM Very Good certification.
The high occupancy building was designed to seat 12,500 people for music concerts and events. The high occupancy rates presented the perfect opportunity to incorporate rainwater harvesting, along with natural ventilation, energy efficient power systems and other sustainable technologies.

The Solution
Naturally, the Public Health Design Engineers working on the project had the challenge of ensuring every system within the building was highly reliable to ensure no downtime on event days. To overcome this challenge, Stormsaver were able to provide a highly reliable solution to capturing and recycling rainwater to serve all of the arena’s toilets.
Our estimating team specified a non-pressurised system with our innovative automatic backwash filtration would provide the necessary fail-safe features and a reduction in manual maintenance interventions. The system incorporated a 110,000 litre tank with an additional 5,000 litre break tank for reliability.
