Having purchased an ex-commercial site, the developer had an ambition to redevelop the brownfield site with an infill residential development designed to help with Scotland’s housing shortage.

The development consists of 11 one-and two-bedroom flats and communal outdoor spaces for 27 residents. The developer instructed our client, Cullross Ltd to construct a building which incorporated sustainable features such as rainwater harvesting, bicycle storage for green travel and high levels of insulation.

Stormsaver were able to work in partnership with Cullross to design a bespoke solution to capture rainwater from the roof area of the building and recycle it for toilet flushing within every apartment. This came in the form of a communal rainwater harvesting system which was made possible through our combi style of system.

Our estimators recommended our combi solution due to the tight space constraints on sites and the need for a highly reliable supply to minimise the risk of disruption for residents. Since installation, the system has relied on 91% rainwater to fulfil the non-potable water demand.
