About the Visit
Last week, we were delighted to welcome the Affinity Water Sustainable Homes team, who are leading Project Zero, to Stormsaver HQ for a factory tour and collaborative discussion.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, exchange insights, and strengthen our shared commitment to promoting water reuse in new homes. By working together, we’re helping to ensure a consistent message around sustainable water management and the role it plays in creating more resilient communities.
Affinity Water has recently announced its 2026/27 Environmental Incentives Common Framework as part of its charging period, rewarding housing developers who incorporate water-efficient solutions into new developments. Under the current Premium Tier, developers can receive an incentive of £2,163 per plot.
Research from the Enabling Water Smart Communities project found that a communal rainwater harvesting system typically costs around £2,000 per plot to install. Separately, research undertaken as part of Project Zero found that integrated reuse systems could reduce potable demand by 20–23%. (Read the full Project Zero report here). This means developers can potentially offset the full installation cost by taking advantage of Affinity Water’s environmental incentives, making water reuse solutions effectively cost-neutral while providing homeowners with the long-term benefit of reduced water bills.
Together, initiatives like these demonstrate how collaboration between water companies, developers, and technology providers can accelerate the adoption of sustainable water reuse and help create more water-efficient communities for the future.
