Regional Utility Hub, Slough

A leading utility supplier in Slough had an ambition to create a highly sustainable regional hub for their new office, stores and warehouse facilities. The project involved redeveloping a large brownfield site into a regional hub that was fit for the 21^st century.

Stormsaver supported with the supply and installation of the rainwater harvesting system within the development, helping the developers to meet BREEAM excellent certification.

Stormsaver were tasked to supply a 22,000-litre underground rainwater harvesting storage tank, filtration and an associated Combi Control Unit. This underground storage tank helps harvest clean, clear rainwater from the 1,034 m2 roof area to serve 16 toilets within the office building.

By selecting the Combi Control Unit, the contractor was able to meet the space constraints within the site, whilst retaining the necessary fail-safe features to minimise the likelihood of a water supply disruption. This helped support the ongoing operation of the mission-critical regional hub.

As well as supplying the equipment to help save water, we were able to support the efficient installation of the rainwater harvesting control unit by providing installation services to the project. This supported a quality installation which will help the occupier to reduce reliance on the public water supply for many years to come.

Overall, the system is designed to utilise 87% of the rainwater that lands on the roof area of the building and save 500m3 of water annually. This design allows for 63% of the non-potable water supply to be fulfilled through sustainable rainwater rather than mains water.
