G2 - Water efficiency

Requirement G2 and Regulation 36 outlines requirements for improved water efficiency standards in new dwellings.

Stormsaver Rainwater Harvesting Systems adhere to Requirement G2 which states reasonable provision must be made by the installation of fittings and fixed appliances that use water efficiently for the prevention of undue consumption of water.

G2 Water Efficiency Regulations state that Rainwater Harvesting, and Greywater Recycling Systems can be used to achieve greater water efficiency within new dwellings. Rainwater Harvesting or Greywater Recycling may be needed where the water efficiency of terminal fittings, such as taps and WCs have been maximised and further water savings need to be achieved within the building.

Requirement G2 limits water consumption within new dwellings to 125 litres per person per day. Alternatively, restrictions on water consumption to 110 litres per person per day can be imposed by planners where potable water supplies are under significant stress.
