Maintenance Engineer - Peter
What is your role at Stormsaver? My role is as a Service and Commissioning Engineer with Stormsaver, I attend sites and conduct services and repair work on the rainwater harvesting equipment. The average day will consist of staying in an area of the country, completing 3-4 services a day. A service will consist of inspecting and cleaning the pumps, filters pipework and checking the general efficiency of the equipment. Repairs can consist of anything and really make the job interesting along with upgrading and installing new units.
How long have you been with the team? Since July 2019, so not too long but have settled in well due to my knowledgeable and approachable colleagues.
What is the part of your job that you enjoy the most? As strange as it sounds, I really enjoy it when an issue will occur with a unit. Although this isn’t the best scenario for the client as an engineer, I love having the ability to apply my skills and knowledge to rectify the fault. Issues are few and far between, so I really do enjoy the challenge when it comes along.
What is your favourite water saving tip? Water-saving doesn’t have to start with big rainwater harvesting systems, it starts with small little changes at home. Examples I like to use and pass on to my friends and family are turning off the tap when brushing your teeth, having showers instead of baths when possible and maybe installing a small domestic water butt in the garden to water the plants. Every little small change makes a difference.
What is it about rainwater harvesting that excites you? Working in the rainwater harvesting industry really makes me proud that I am a small part of helping to make the world a better place for future generations.
Thought for the day? Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow.
